Abstract

Recruiting university students necessitates innovative approaches to navigate current dynamics. This research primarily aimed to analyze the relationship between the National University of Pilar's (UNP) recruitment procedures in 2024 and their impact on enrollment trends. An explanatory study employing a mixed-methods approach was conducted. The methodology encompassed 490 first-year students and seven academic directors. A proportional allocation method was used to select a sample of 217 student units (90% confidence, 5% error), while a census was applied to the directors. The data collection techniques were a survey (13-item questionnaire, validated by experts, α=0.784) and interviews with key informants and a documentary analysis guide. Results revealed a statistically significant association (χ²=38.75, p=0.003) among the faculty of origin, the perceived completeness of information, the promotion methods employed, and enrollment patterns (2022-2024). It is concluded that the implementation of robust institutional policies is crucial to enhance academic outreach, optimize student recruitment, and foster both institutional belonging and student retention.
