Abstract

The lack of human and logistical resources greatly hinder the monitoring activities of Natural Protected Areas. The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as monitoring tools could complement the work of park rangers in patrolling tasks, especially in remote or difficult-to-access areas. Results of this study include the documentation of the assembly procedure, the installation of the ground control software and the configuration of the parameters in the autopilot, as well as the coding for the geotagging and the analysis of the images taken by the UAV.
