De la inclusión a la sostenibilidad: el rol de la educación financiera en las cooperativas del Ecuador

Resumen

El presente estudio analiza el impacto de la educación financiera en la sostenibilidad de las cooperativas de ahorro y crédito en Ecuador, en el marco de los retos que enfrentan estas instituciones del sistema financiero popular y solidario. Se aplicó una metodología cuantitativa de alcance causal, con una muestra no probabilística de 102 usuarios de servicios cooperativos. Los datos se recolectaron mediante un cuestionario estructurado y se procesaron utilizando el software SmartPLS, a través de la técnica de ecuaciones estructurales (PLS-SEM). Los resultados muestran que la educación financiera explica un 32 % de la varianza en la percepción de sostenibilidad, con un efecto positivo y estadísticamente significativo (β = 0.570; p < 0.001). Asimismo, se verificó la fiabilidad y validez de los constructos, confirmando la consistencia del modelo propuesto. Estos hallazgos evidencian que la alfabetización financiera constituye un factor estratégico para fortalecer la resiliencia y estabilidad de las cooperativas, al potenciar la confianza de sus socios y promover prácticas de ahorro y crédito responsables. El estudio aporta evidencia empírica relevante para el diseño de programas de capacitación financiera y para la formulación de políticas públicas que favorezcan la sostenibilidad del sistema cooperativo en Ecuador.
